Manchester City Centre Date Night Ideas: Treetop Golf & Treehouse Hotel

To celebrate my birthday, and to enjoy a little getaway before the arrival of baby girl, we headed into Manchester for a fun city break filled with food, mini golf, and an overnight hotel stay.

If you are looking for Manchester city centre date night ideas, our date included dinner at Bem Brasil, mini golf at Treetop Adventure Golf in the Printworks, and an overnight stay at Treehouse Hotel, making it a bit of a forest-themed weekend in Manchester.

Playing Mini Golf at Treetop Adventure Golf

If you are looking for things to do in Manchester City Centre for a date night I recommend Treetop Golf at the Printworks.

It is an indoor mini-golf experience in the theme of the Amazon with two 18 hole courses: the Tropical Trail and Ancient Explorer.

Each hole has jungle décor, rainforest sound effects and atmospheric lighting.

After your 18th hole, there is a bonus hole you can play for a chance to win another round of golf.

There is pizza, a bar and a café so plenty of drinks and food on offer for before or after your game.

We were there on a Saturday night and never felt rushed to finish a hole or was waiting in line for someone ahead to finish their hole.

There are even staff that come around with a machine to print you out a sticker if you get a hole-in-one, which both of us managed to achieve.

I have to admit, getting a sticker for it brought out the playful child within us making it one of the things that made Treetops Golf in Manchester a fun date night experience.

Eating at Bem Brasil in Manchester City Centre

Located just off Deansgate in Manchester city centre, Bem Brasil is a Brazilian rodizio-style restaurant where waiters continuously bring different cuts of meat directly to your table.

On your table you are given a card, green on one side and red on the other. Keeping the green side facing up lets the staff know you would like more meat brought over, while turning it to red means you need a little break or are officially tapping out from the all-you-can-eat experience.

If you look on TripAdvisor, Bem Brasil does have mixed reviews. Personally, I think it depends on when you visit and how busy it is, as this can affect the overall experience.

I had actually visited a few times around a decade ago before returning again recently for this forest-themed Manchester date night.

I do remember it being slightly better back in the day, however, I still had a really enjoyable experience this time around. The concept remains fun, the atmosphere lively, and it definitely makes for a different kind of date night in Manchester city centre.

A bonus is when you get a playful waiter that adds a bit of showmanship, however, on this experience at Bem Brazil I think we only had one that was happy to go this extra mile.

Staying at Treehouse Hotel Manchester in Manchester City Centre

When booking somewhere to stay in Manchester city centre for our date night, I was looking for something that suited me a little better, somewhere a bit more quirky and different from your standard hotel stay.

There is an immediate calming effect when walking into Treehouse Hotel Manchester from the hustle and bustle outside. The playful woodland-inspired décor instantly makes it feel detached from the busy city streets surrounding it.

The room itself was cute and cosy, though cosy definitely became interchangeable with “slightly on the small side” when carrying around a baby bump in the middle of July.

Despite this, the cushions, patchwork bedding, and overall décor gave the room a warm and homely atmosphere that suited the treehouse theme perfectly.

I decided to opt for the room upgrade and, for an extra £20, this included air conditioning which was an absolute must while carrying around the extra cargo during a summer heatwave.

The upgrade also included a city centre view, though I will admit I felt slightly awkward staring directly into people’s apartments across the way.

One feature I really liked was the hidden television, which can be tucked away if you are wanting a break from technology and more of a switch-off stay.

One thing I was slightly disappointed by, however, was that the room was beautifully themed to create that cosy forest treehouse feeling, but when lying in bed you were staring at a plain concrete ceiling which broke the illusion slightly. It almost felt unfinished, like they had forgotten to add wooden panelling to complete the look.

Thankfully, the bathroom more than made up for this. The rain shower was excellent after a long day walking around Manchester city centre, and I especially appreciated the extra locks on the room door which made the stay feel very secure.

Most importantly, we had an excellent night’s sleep which was hard for me to do when I was pregnant and enjoyed a slow morning before checking out at 11am.

Overall, this ended up being the perfect little Manchester city centre getaway before the arrival of baby girl. Between the mini golf, Brazilian food, and quirky overnight stay at Treehouse Hotel Manchester, it made for a fun and easy date night idea in Manchester.
