Preparing For JOGLE: The Walking Boots I Shall Be Wearing
As I gear up for my epic journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End (JOGLE), every detail counts.
From route planning to gear selection, each decision plays a crucial role in ensuring a successful and enjoyable adventure.
In this blog post, I’ll discuss one of the most important gear decisions I’ve made for JOGLE: my walking boots.
Specifically, I’ll be sharing my decision to go with the Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® Mid Walking Boots and why they’re the perfect fit for the miles ahead.

Choosing the Right Pair of Walking Boots
Selecting the right pair of walking boots for a long-distance journey like JOGLE had me pretty nervous. Pick the wrong pair and it is going to be a challenging 90 days!
It requires careful consideration of factors such as comfort, durability, weather protection, and traction.
However, as soon as I tried on the Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® Mid Walking Boots I knew they were the right boots for me!
One of the standout features of the Merrell Moab Speed 2 boots is the incorporation of GORE-TEX® technology.
This waterproof membrane provides exceptional breathability and waterproof performance, keeping my feet dry and comfortable even in the wettest conditions.
As someone who will be walking through diverse terrain and unpredictable weather during JOGLE, having reliable waterproofing is essential for maintaining foot health and overall comfort.

Finding Lightweight Walking Boots
Despite their robust construction, the Merrell Moab Speed 2 boots are surprisingly lightweight.
The FloatPro Foam™ midsole offers maximum cushioning without adding unnecessary bulk, making them ideal for fast hiking over long distances.
Additionally, the boots feature a protective toe cap and a rock plate for added durability and foot protection on rough terrain.
In preparation for JOGLE, choosing the right walking boots was a decision I didn’t take lightly.
After trying the boots on, careful research and consideration, the Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® Mid Walking Boots emerged as the clear choice for their combination of comfort, durability, weather protection, and sustainability.
With these boots on my feet, I feel confident and ready to tackle the challenges and adventures that await me on the road from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
I’ll be sure to provide updates and insights along the way. Stay tuned for more JOGLE-related content and follow my adventures on social media!
