However, a feature that is now immortalised in the hearts of many is Darcy’s Pond due to the iconic filming location from the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice.
Situated within the parkland surrounding the house, this picturesque stretch of water witnessed Colin Firth’s memorable dive as Mr. Darcy.

Actor Colin Firth filmed the scene in character attire, with a stuntman used for a brief mid-air shot and an underwater segment filmed separately at Ealing Studios in London.

How can visitors access Darcy’s Pond when visiting Lyme Park?
You can access Darcy’s Pond from the car park of Lyme Park.
There are different routes, however, I recommend you follow the Gritstone trail rather than follow the sign to Darcy’s Pond.
The sign takes you up a path and fails to then mark where Darcy’s Pond is and you can miss the little gate to the pond.
Therefore, from the car park, follow the sign for Gritstone Trail.
Pass through the gate signposted Drinkwater Meadow.
Follow the path to the right.
When you get to the birdhouse, keep right and follow the path. You will then walk right up to Mr. Darcy’s Pond location.
What other attractions or landmarks are near Mr. Darcy’s Pond location within Lyme Park?
While at Lyme Park, don’t miss the chance to explore the historic house itself, including the charming courtyard and grand main entrance.
Before your visit, be sure to check the National Trust website for the park, house, and garden opening times to make the most of your experience.
One of the park’s unique treasures is the Lyme Caxton Missal, a rare manuscript.
It is the only nearly complete copy of the earliest edition of a missal according to the Sarum Rite still in existence.
